Welcome Information

Dear Neighbor, Welcome to our beautiful community of Tonto Hills! As you are settling in, we hope this information may be useful to you. Fire Department – Rural Metro of Maricopa County is the fire company that covers our neighborhood although we do not pay for this through our taxes. They provide an optional annual subscription to cover individual homes and vacant lots. Should you decide not to subscribe to Rural Metro, they will still respond to your fire but will bill you. Their contact information is ruralmetrofire.com or 480.627.6200. Tonto Hills Organizations: Tonto Hills Improvement Association – The THIA is the community association that governs our community according to our Bylaws, Policies and Procedures, and Declarations of Restrictions. Tonto Hills is a registered NonProfit Improvement Association (not an HOA). Meetings are held periodically, and minutes are posted online. Agendas and minutes are also email-blasted to the community. The Board of Directors is elected annually at our Tonto Hills Annual General Meeting (AGM), and we welcome residents who wish to serve on the Board by running for office. More information is posted on our community website www.tontohills.net. You are encouraged to attend the THIA meetings to learn more about your community and voice your opinion and concerns. Architectural Control Committee – The ACC is an arm of the THIA. The elected members of this board will review building and lot improvement plans to ensure compliance with our governing documents. Tonto Hills Volunteer Fire Department – The THVFD is a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization that is supported in part by THIA funds and by individual donations, which they are always happy to accept. The THVFD fire fighters are volunteers - your friends and neighbors in Tonto Hills - who are trained, in part by the National Forest Service, to fight wildland fires in and around Tonto Hills and to prevent the spread of brush fires in our community. THVFD firefighters are not trained or qualified to fight structure fires. The THVFD owns and operates its own fire trucks for fire response and operates out of their firehouse located on the lot with the Kachina. Tonto Hills has completed the required criteria and is now a nationally recognized Firewise USA site (https://www.nfpa.org/Public-Education/Fire-causes-and-risks/Wildfire/Firewise-USA).
